It’s been a while since we did one of these eh! Taipan still remains one of mine & Mr YumDimSum’s favourite Milton Keynes eateries. There’s still a few things on the menu we still haven’t tried, but we ticked another one off the list today in the form of hot & spicy wontons.
Mr YumDimSum deliberately didn’t tell me what he was ordering, knowing the title would put me off; I’m not very good with spicy food! Don’t they look cute? Just like regular crispy wontons but with a deeper colour and more aromatic.
After leaving them to cool for a good while (you don’t wanna be biting into a freshly fried wonton- yowza!) I gave one a try. As with all Taipan dim sum it was wonderfully fresh and the batter was deliciously crisp and light. Inside were prawns, garlic and vegetables, just like your regular wonton but sprinkled with szechuan pepper which gave them a little kick.
Wontons with a warm and fuzzy feeling thrown in, excellent Saturday grub!
