Isn’t it the Japanese who have a saying which marvels at how you can do the same thing twice and it won’t be the same? I couldn’t have experienced that more perfectly this weekend. Last year I took my mum to The Malverns for Mother’s Day, where we set up camp and cooked hot dogs in coats and scarfs and huddled around our little cooker for warmth. It was so much fun that this year I planned to do for her the same again, only this time there was sunshine on my side.
You may remember from my previous post that I’m in the process of reviewing a whole host of kitchen goodies by Panasonic. I can’t lie I’m enjoying this collaboration so much: every couple of months something exciting turns up at my door and I try to make it look at home in my kitchen. I say that, because the Panasonic range is seriously shiny and the appliances look ever so slightly out of place in my not-as-shiny kitchen… they look as though they were made to stand upon sparkling marble work tops!
Funny how despite being a well travelled and adventurous eater and cook, some of the simplest things are still my favourite. When I was younger I insisted on eating like the grown ups, and when a cheese board came out it would always have some cheese triangles just for me. Well fast forward twenty-odd years and not much has changed: I still enjoy a cheese triangle on a cheese board! It’s definitely a favourite for me on those evenings when you fancy a ‘picky tea’.
In most aspects of my life I’m not too fussed on gadgets, but in the kitchen? I want them all!
I don’t really like peas. (I am going somewhere with this)
