This time of year is very exciting for us food bloggers: it’s time for us to shine! It’s no secret that beauty and fitness is ever so popular right now, so indulgent recipes don’t get quite as much attention as recipes for super-clean-organic-vegan-raw-gluten-free-paleo… *takes breath*
I’m feeling very Wintery all of a sudden! The big jumpers and scarves are out, and so are the big Winter flavours! I was searching the internet for something seasonal to make and came across this lovely pumpkin pancake recipe (I tweaked it a little, I can’t help myself). It makes beautifully light and fluffy American style pancakes with a delicious spicy hum.
This time last year I made Christmas rum truffles for my family and they were a huge hit. My grandma still raves about them and put in an order for more in September! This year I ventured out and created a few extra flavours. The great thing about truffles is they’re very easy to make, and once you have the main recipe for the ganache perfected you can add any flavours you like.
I’m a traditional soul when it comes to Christmas decorations and I absolutely love anything home made or natural. Last year I showed you guys my method for drying out orange & lemon slices to hang on the tree, this year I’m making decorations you can eat, courtesy of a great recipe on All Recipes. These are great fun to make and really put you in the festive mood! They make your home smell of ginger too, yum!
The first of the Winter festivities is upon us! It’s all downhill (uphill) from here: parties, indulgent eating, getting merry, hibernating in your onesie… seems somewhat morbid that we kick it all off with celebrating the dead… but there you go!
